Domingo Montanaro has had a successful track record in mitigating cyber risk and fighting cybercrime since 1999. He has set up forensics, investigation, and intelligence cells in financial institutions and government agencies, as well as trained police and military forces in several countries (Brazil, USA, Colombia, United Arab Emirates, and Saudi Arabia) throughout his career. He worked for a large Brazilian bank in the investigation and expert assistance on the first prison sentence for an Internet-based crime in Brazil, in 2004. He has since led investigations that resulted in more than 200 arrests for this type of offense, constantly succeeding in his performance in court.
A pioneer in Cyber Intelligence in Brazil, in 2013 he innovated by building at its start-up a platform for the collection and analysis of threats, which received the EED (“Strategic Defense Company”) seal from the Brazilian Ministry of Defense in 2017.
Over the past 17 years, he has given more than 50 talks in over 15 countries on his successful research and performance in complex cases, including in collaboration with specialized police forces. He serves as a visiting professor of information security and forensics in electronic crimes in graduate programs in leading Brazilian schools, such as FGV, Mackenzie, USP, Insper, Escola Paulista de Direito, and Escola Paulista da Magistratura do Tribunal de Justiça de São Paulo.
